Educational Camp, or Edcamp, is a participant-driven professional development program designed for teachers. The Edcamp model has four tenets: free and accessible, participant-driven, experiential-based (not expert-based), and freedom to choose the program that best fits your needs and maximizes your learning. I think this program could be beneficial to students as well. What I envision is the collaboration of secondary school classes to introduce the subsequent level of education. For example students in grade 10 would be open to visit the classrooms of Life Sciences 11, Earth Sciences 11, Chemistry 11, etc. Students are then free to participate in various activities occurring within the classrooms (these activities could be timed and outlined in a program). This would introduce students to the subsequent level courses available for their selection. It would allow students to get an idea of course content prior to taking the course, be introduced to the teachers, and other opportunities. This may even increase course-enrollment.
